Background
The previous Orkney.com site promoted Orkney to a wide range of audiences, while referring potential tourist visitors to the then-separate visitorkney.com website run by Orkney Tourism Group. The brief for the orkney.com redevelopment project included a requirement to incorporate all the listings-based tourism content from visitorkney.com into the new orkney.com to provide a single, comprehensive site that better served all target audiences.
Challenge
As with every NB project, we started with a comprehensive digital strategy process. It was clear from the beginning that this project had some particularly challenging requirements, with a wide range of possible solutions which could meet the client's need to consolidate the remits of the previous orkney.com and visitorkney.com sites. We worked closely with stakeholders and conducted in-depth analysis and research to form a specification for the new site which provided structural simplicity and usability whilst also providing a wide range of deep and varied content.
Solution
